hello everybody

it is sunday lunchtime here and a glorious warm day. we've had quite a lot of heavy rain recently so today is a nice change. been out for a great walk this morning and now time to catch up with chores as per usual. great having toby off work though, came home to a lovely clean house on friday night. putting more stuff up for sale this afternoon on trade me. we've got a fund going for our flights home, toby has been putting aside money without telling me so that's great. we've had a good week, mia sleeping 11 hours every night just about. she is testing our patience on the food front at the moment but we are gradually learning how to deal with her moods, tantrums, food throwing and moaning! toby has had 2 more enquiries for wedding photography and he has a trial run next weekend as a colleague of mine gets married. he has offered to photograph it FOC in return for portfolio shots to add to our website etc. because half of those attending the wedding are my work colleagues, I will be keeping my distance. i've had quite an active social life recently, yesterday was carolyn's bbq which was great despite a mischevious baby and a couple of downpours of rain. on tuesday we are off to visit another ex-work colleague of mine, bettina. she has been renovating a house out in titirangi and is currently 6 months pregnant. she's expecting a girl so she has been on the receiving end of several pink items so far! friday will be another girlie night out. poor toby seems to be the one staying in all the time at the moment though it doesn't seem to bother him. in 2 weeks time we will be on our south pacific holiday, so best start thinking about what we need to take. they have got a cot for us but no high chair so we will be taking our portable one which grandma christine bought us. well, time to sign off. i still haven't sent off mia's UK passport application and have promised myself to get it done today. xxx Posted by Picasa

creepy crawlies

what a girl. another phone call from daycare. "hi jo, we don't want you to panic, but...... is there any history of allergic reactions to insect bites in either of your families...." yes, our delightful little treasure liked the look of something out in the garden at daycare on tuesday. why on earth she liked the look of it is beyond me. i guess 1 year olds don't understand the concept of fear. mia had picked up a weta, a new zealand creepy crawlie (a big one). now the weta wasn't very happy about this. and so it bit her. fortunately their bite is only poisonous in mating season and it isn't mating season. wetas are very ugly creatures. hard to describe - do a search on the internet. apparently the one mia chose to make friends with was approx 3 inches long. yuk. toby wants to buy a picture of one to show her in years to come. thankfully there seem to be no lasting side effects other than 2 puncture wounds on her finger. go girl. Posted by Picasa
