thriving

back and front views! we haven't been able to find any other cute outfits like this. it's a bit big but she looks gorgeous in it. she is thriving at nursery - thankfully. the carers love her and say she is good as gold. she blows raspberries when she is tired or hungry, rest of the time she is happy. she can now push herself backwards and rotate 90 degrees on her tummy. we can't leave her for more than a couple of seconds and have invested in a fire guard. well, both toby and mia are in bed and i think it's about time i did the same. hopefully we will have another peaceful night - she is sleeping from 7pm til around 6.30am at the moment. long may it last..... looking forward to an extended weekend, courtesy of the queen's birthday. no plans apart from sunday dinner with friends. love jo.

hello there! mia looking all grown up. it won't be long before she can get herself out of this wonderful device. still, they are a rarity here in nz so we may even make a profit it we sell it. life plodding on, winter setting in. we've seen lots of heavy rain recently but finally it has come good and we have some fine weather. very chilly this morning - 9 degrees - but by lunchtime it was warm enough to sit outside with 2 women from work. i still get a wave of excitement when i step outside the council offices as the view at the bottom of the road is amazing. thank goodness i managed to get a job near home and not over in the city. i am enjoying being back at work but also missing mia lots. wish we could afford to do otherwise but that's life. i'm not saying i could stay home full-time (i think that would drive me nuts) but part-time would be nice. now everything has to be planned to make life as easy as possible during the week. 7am til 5pm is a long time to go without seeing mia and when we do see her, it is nearly her bedtime. we get a precious hour to play with her before bedtime routine starts.

Happy Birthday Mummy

Well, almost. yes, my birthday has come around again and, as it falls on a monday, we have celebrated today. been out to the winebox cafe in albany with nick and sarah. the meal was delicious and mia behaved brilliantly. we have bought her a new buggy, a marvellous thing - you can just see it in the background. it is lightweight (6kg) and collapses down into a bag so we'll be able to use it for our trip back to england. toby took her out in it earlier today and got several remarks - what a beautiful baby and what a beautiful buggy!! no plans for tomorrow evening though no doubt we will pop for a drink somewhere after work or enjoy some nice wine. we had a sudden urge for port today, having not had any since leaving the uk so we bought a bottle of soljans port. absolutely delicious, especially with brie and blue cheese. long week ahead but at least we get next monday off. ironically, the queen's birthday is a public holiday here. well, it's getting late and i have stuff to do so best sign off. heavy week of work and training ahead, i will be producing the annual report at work so am getting trained up in desktop publishing. we'll be up and out of the house just after 7am tomorrow so gotta get everything ready tonight - mia's bag packed, bottles sterilised, shirts ironed, lunch made..... ugh. will try and add some more pix of mia during the week. she has a very cute "bear" fleece babygrow so i'll post some pix of her in it. lots of love.
