Oh blogger
Oh blogger
Ah, think I have sussed this blogging business. Got to do photos separately, on their own without text. So I have just published lots, hope you like them. Thought I should update you with what we’ve been up to this week. Not a lot really, except nursing a poorly baby … again. Yes, another bug, this time a nasty throat infection with scary temperature of up to 40 deg c. worrying few days but she seems to be over it now though not eating much and sleeping lots. Still, we had a good night last night, first one for a week or so and feel much more refreshed today. I haven’t been very motivated at work this week, too busy worrying about mia and wishing I was at home. Toby has had a lousy last few days of hols, stuck in the house with a very grizzly baby. Thank goodness she is ok now. No plans for the weekend, we seem to be friendless at the moment and I have just about had enough. I am seriously tempted to jump on a plane at the moment but I won’t, not when our holidays are only 2 months away. I guess we are bound to go through ups and downs and having a poorly baby and nobody close by is hard. I think last year was easier in a way cos it was all so new and exciting, I was pregnant and we had lots of visitors planned. Been watching lots of films - being there (peter sellers - excellent), ladykillers (original and far superior to tom hanks one) and have syriana to watch tonight. Been reading lots too and having many early nights as mia has had us up twice a night recently. It’s now 2pm on Saturday, mia is having a nap and toby is doing some woodwork. Hopefully we’ll get out this afternoon somewhere for a walk. Weather ok at the moment, quite mild in fact and the heavy rain which was forecast doesn’t seem to have materialised. Well, goodbye for now.

tis now evening
Tis now evening
Now 6pm and we’ve had a great day. Mia had a good sleep this arvo and we’ve been down to westhaven marina, where all the rich folk moor their yachts. Gits. Had a nice walk then headed to galbraiths for a pint of decent beer. Just home and time to have half an hour or so of play before we get mia ready for bed. Will hopefully succeed in blogging more photos later.

Sunday morning herel
A return to warmer weather
Phew, bit warmer again today. In fact, blue skies and sunshine, absolutely gorgeous. Good day so far, been up to mahurangi regional park. Stunning place which I visited with mum, dad and mia but toby had never been. We put her in the backpack which was a huge success. She loved every minute of it and chatted quite a lot of the time. Thankfully toby was carrying her cos I went “arse over tit” and got covered in mud/sand. Taught us a valuable lesson anyway and we won’t be walking anywhere remotely dodgy with her on our backs again. I took a turn at carrying her later on and she spent the first few minutes just pulling my hair. Thankfully the novelty wore off and she was soon admiring the view instead of my hair. Been out for lunch to nearby café which was pretty good and now mia is sleeping whilst I do this and toby creates stone sculptures…. Sound familiar stevo? No other plans today, just want to take it easy ahead of another tough week of work.

Sunday morning here
Sunday morning here
Having major problems with blog again so trying a different way. Will try and upload some photos separately. Thankfully it has turned warmer again, balmy 16 yesterday in mid winter. Thankfully also mia slept for 11.5 hours last night. So we are all nice and rested and looking forward to a chilled out Sunday. On Friday night we had a Japanese meal and tasted sake for the first time. Both very impressed and I’m sure we’ll be having it again! The sashimi was fantastic so we’ll be going back there, just 5 mins drive away and they open at 5.30 in the evening so we can take mia no problem. Spent yesterday pottering, toby out on the patio and me playing with mia. Popped round to see one of toby’s colleagues and family – a south African Indian now kiwi! lovely bloke and family. We get on well with them, just a shame they live 30 mins drive away on the other side of Auckland (mum and dad – near the ferry terminal to waiheke). Patio looking great at the moment, our first homegrown lemon tree is almost ready to give us our first lemon. No doubt it will get sliced and put into a gin and tonic. All the established lemon trees are loaded with lemons at the moment, its hard not to help yourself to them when you walk past! We’ve also got quite a few plants now, aloe vera, yukkas, pitcher plants, dragon trees, tree aloe …. Today I am hoping we’ll get out for a walk, maybe just to long bay up the road. Want to try mia in the backpack again as she should be big enough for it now. Toby on school hols and he has had lots of surfing so he’s pretty happy. My tum is rumbling so time for some food. Took some cracking shots of mia yesterday so I’ll try and upload. If not, I’ll email through to some of you. Much love.
