saturday night

tis saturday night and i have just gone to bed so mummy is typing this. we've had a great day. daddy took me to the park this morning then we all went to whangaparaoa steam railway and mini animal farm. we went on a train which went over a bridge and through a tunnel. then we saw a pig, lots of birds, rabbits and a donkey. i had a nice big sleep after lunch then we went to lollipops children's playcentre this afternoon then the supermarket. what a hectic life i lead. mummy and daddy kept me awake til nearly 9pm so they can have a lie-in tomorrow. fat chance....!! only one more day til i go back to fulltime daycare, boohoo.

clapham clocks museum, whangarei (and mad old git)

took ourselves up north on friday. pain in the butt 2 hour drive, mia not happy, but good to get out of auckland again and do something different. mia quite content to play in the local playground whilst toby and i were snap happy with the camera. this bloke thought i was talking to him whereas i was actually talking to toby who was just off to the right! anyway, we drove back via beautiful waipu cove - photos above. top surfing spot when the conditions are right but alas, as per usual for toby, the swell definitely wasn't up and we contented ourselves with a quick look at the beach and a can of pop before heading home.

more mums with bubs at a cafe in whangarei on friday. this wee chap was only 11 months old but so big! i'm glad to say that mia held her own - 7 months of daycare have turned her into quite a feisty young lady.

me and my toys

there were we thinking we were mean parents cos mia didn't have many toys .....! this was before we put them all into one big box and realised she had plenty. her current favourites are her rocking horse (on hire), her tolo car with horsecart and her "that's not my bear" book. it changes daily though.

New Year's Eve Walk

This was taken around 2pm on NYE looking north to muriwai. tough walk on rough terrain, not really one of our wisest decisions but the views were spectacular. i think the blog is now more or less up to date. it is 10am on 2 january now. toby has gone surfing at long last - first session in a couple of weeks - and mia and i have done the supermarket run plus a quick trip to the warehouse. she has just gone down for a nap. nothing planned today. toby wants to go and see casino royale but we will have to take it in turns or wait a week or two and ask doug and audrey to babysit. we hope to have a couple of day trips this week, one up to whangerei and nearby beaches and we are trying to track down a pet corner/jesmond dene type place for mia to see some animals. we are now wondering if the "pukeko in a pongo tree" was such a good idea. we have had to hide the book this morning as she keeps picking it up and demanding we sing it to her! monday 8th brings a return to work for me but loads of my colleagues are using up their leave so it will be very quiet for the first week. i plan to update my cv and prepare for my new staff. countdown to our departure now i guess. still waiting for news on rehoming of frank and arnie but once that happens it will be all systems go and we will get our flights sorted etc etc. haven't been able to send off mia's passport application yet as we needed her nz passport for vanuatu. should get it done this week though, application is all ready, just need to check over it, add payment and post it off.
