ready steady go

yup, she's crawling! at last, just 5 days short of 1 year old and mia has decided crawling is quite good fun. we have had a lovely evening tonight watching her delight in her new found skill and so proud of her. she has been doing the odd bit here and there, to get round obstacles, but tonight she went for it big time. great fun all round. she is now safely and calmly tucked up in bed and will hopefully stay that way til 6.30am. we are both exhausted, toby was sick yesterday - must have been a dodgy pie he ate - and i have a cold plus suffering from sleepless nights. too much on my mind i think. thankfully mia is currently on top form having just survived another bout of conjunctivitis. mad weather here, weather warnings abound, very very windy and hideous rain. just a night to huddle up in front of fire. even got the electric blanket warming up the bed. better than humidity anyway. well as mia's birthday approaches we can't quite believe where the year has disappeared to. we have a busy weekend planned, as per usual, so next blog entry might not be until she is one year old. goodness me. one year old already. lots of love. Posted by Picasa

back to the very beginning

no, mia hasn't suddenly shrunk or got a little sister! we started the blog in feb 06 just before emma arrived. so, that means 14 november 2005 to approx 28 feb 2006 is missing. i decided it was about time i caught up with things, after all, this is a diary of mia's first year of life. by god, is it really a whole year ...... so, these are in reverse order starting with an overcast but very warm sunday spent at waiake beach back in mid february 2006. the water was so warm it was like being in a bath. there follow lots of photos, not just of mia, but of some of our favourite nz spots lest we forget them over the years. mia has had a truly great start in life, a kiwi citizen, holidays to hawkes bay, waiheke island, rotorua, 90 mile beach and - of course - the north east of england. her 2nd christmas will be spent on vanuatu and we hope to visit a few more nz spots before we leave in july. she has been to a wedding and has climbed hills and walked (with a little help) along some amazing beaches. she has had lots of visitors - phil and caroline (whilst still in my belly!), grandma and grandad, cousin emma, grandma, uncle adam, aunty sarah and 2 cousins becky and fynn. i am bound to have forgot some. it will be her first birthday next week, what a great year. cheers! Posted by Picasa
