Before it's too late

Not many wearing days left for this outfit. she is still really petite though so a lot of the 3-6 month stuff still doesn't fit her. i have now bought some stripey tights for her so she'll be able to wear some of her dresses once the weather cools down. just had a text message from emma, now in rotorua, saying it is cold and wet!

Mia's new toy

yes, she is trying to bite her new walker. actually, what you can't see is frank just in front of it and that's what she's looking at! she has become fascinated by the cats recently, especially frank.

Tummy Time!

As you can see, Mia is getting quite good on her tummy. She has had a bad hair day today (another one). Hope you like her jeans, I gave up and took them off shortly after this photo was taken cos they were falling off plus it was too warm for jeans! toby looked after her all afternoon whilst i went on a girlie shopping trip. sarah had heard about a next retail shop in onehunga, south auckland, so we had to go. we got rather excited when we saw the sign for it, having not had the pleasure of next shopping for over a year. choice very limited but i managed to find some work pants, just need a job now.

Takapuna Beach

this picture was taken this morning at one of my favourite places. hoping to get a job in takapuna so i can walk up and down this beach. i'm sure you can see why.

4 month Mia

Not a lot to say to accompany this. mia doing really well. i am very very happy as toby has just done the evening routine for the first time! ah, bliss, it's not all up to me any more. she seems to have quaffed quite a few mils. we'll wake her again around 10.30 for another feed which should see her thru til 3 or 4am.

Girls World

Mia in the middle, Bella on the left and Sam on the right. Sam is gorgeous, nearly a month older than Mia. Bella was 6 weeks premature and had quite a few health issues to start with but now doing great. Out of 12 babies born in our antenatal group, 9 were girls. Out of 8 babies at our "solids group", all 8 were girls. the shortage of men here in nz seems to be a reality! we girls are taking over the world.

Ladies who Lunch

Sorry, not keeping as up to date with this as i'd like.... life is pretty hectic tho good. emma and i (and mia of course) had great plans to head north for the day yesterday (wednesday) but we only got as far as going out for lunch. a very nice lunch it was indeed, jamaican jerk prawn and avocado salad for me and fresh fish of the day (snapper) for emma. washed down with white wine of course. mia had to settle for a bottle of milk in her buggy! a picture will follow but i am having problems downloading them at the moment. tuesday evening was spent at snowplanet with toby trying to teach emma to ski. she did very well for a first attempt, i have several of her falls on camera. i think she is a bit battered and bruised as a result but despite this seemed to love it. it is a shame she hasn't got time to go to south island and do some proper skiing. i hope i'll get to have a go sometime, perhaps once mia is old enough to learn. cheaper and more accessible here.
just trying to sort out accommodation for the fletcher family visit which is very very soon! can't quite believe it is almost upon us, having not seen them for some 15 months. life seems to be whizzing by. emma is off on her travels again today - hiring a car and driving to coromandel town, then whitianga i think to see cathedral cove and hot water beach. then on to rotorua and taupo and possibly ending with abseil into waitomo caves. she has mad activities planned for each destination! mia still in bed. the formula seems to be helping her sleep longer. sorry brother david but she has slept through from around 10pm to 4 or 5am for the last 3 nights so i am feeling pretty normal at the moment and not sleep deprived. toby went for a surf after work last night and didn't get to see mia at all as she was having a sleep. anyway, he gave her a late feed at 10pm last night - first time he has done it. very nice for both of them and a relief for me not to have to do each and every feed now.
and now it's friday... we are all up early, mia woke earlier than normal. it was very hot last night which seems to upset her sleeping habits. toby went for another surf last night, daniel's reef near leigh, and mia and i had a walk at our local beach. tonight i am off for a swift bevvie with pal sarah - not that i have told toby this yet as we have hardly seen each other.
more photos soon

An average weekend

This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago, not sorted any new pix out but will soon. as most of you know, we have now booked our flights home for my brother phil's wedding in september. we'll be back for just 2.5 weeks and are looking forward to having a pint in the free trade inn, seeing the sage opera house plus a walk at ross and bamburgh. i'm hoping to have a meal at panis with the girls and we both want a decent curry. can't wait to see all family and friends and introducing our beautiful daughter. having a quiet weekend, as per usual! watched willy wonka last night on our projector which i was pretty disappointed by. i guess i just prefer the original. never mind, i still enjoyed it to some extent. had heavy rain this morning which saves us watering the garden anyway. mia having her 2nd nap of the day. bottle feeding going well, i think she is actually starting to prefer it and it means i can eat and drink what i want. emma due back very soon, going to pick her up from bus station in half an hour. we've exchanged a couple of texts whilst she's been away but i have no idea if she has enjoyed it. will sign off now and try and grab some quiet reading time before mia wakes. might be heading into browns bay to meet friends this afternoon, we'll see how emma feels.
